High Veloxity Oxygen Fuel
HVOF is a thermal spraying process in which powder particles are deposited onto a substrate at extremely high speeds.
The combination of low temperature and high kinetic energy creates a coating with exceptional adhesion and density, without thermally affecting the base material.
This makes HVOF ideal for applications where wear, erosion, and corrosion occur.
How Does the Process Work?
In an HVOF gun, a fuel (such as kerosene or hydrogen) is mixed with oxygen and ignited, creating a superfast gas flame.
- Powder particles are injected axially into this gas stream.
- They partially melt and are projected onto the surface at speeds of up to 1000 m/s.
- The low temperature of the substrate prevents deformation or metallurgical changes.
