This arc ionizes a gas stream (usually argon or an argon\/hydrogen mixture) into plasma.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The arc heats the gas to temperatures of ~20,000\u202f\u00b0C<br \/>The plasma jet emerging from the nozzle remains at 10,000\u202f\u00b0C a few centimeters away.<\/li>\n<li>The coating material is injected in powder form into this flame.<\/li>\n<li>The molten particles are propelled onto the workpiece at speeds up to 450 m\/s.<\/li>\n<li>There they solidify and form a wear-resistant, homogeneous layer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_column_1 et_pb_column
