Spray & Fuse
Spray & Fuse is a thermal spraying process that is finished with a post-treatment in which the applied coating melts into a wear-resistant, dense, and tough layer.
This technique is often used for applications where coatings are subject to high wear, impact loads, or corrosion.
Spray & Fuse is a hot process, whereby the coating ultimately forms a metallurgical bond with the substrate.
How Does the Process Work?
- An alloy is first sprayed cold (as in flame spraying).
- The component is then heated locally (usually with a flame burner) to just above the melting point of the coating.
- The coating melts and flows together with the substrate.
- After cooling, a seamless, pore-free coating with excellent adhesion is formed.
